With a manual conversion add about 4 or so hours at most
With the engine out there is bugger all work to be done, the only hole to drill is the one for the master cyl, the fluid line goes under the insulation (not just thrown along the fire wall like some butchers do), the shift cables get changed over and a few quick wiring mods
If you want the 5spd tippy, you will need the engine harness AS WELL as the entire engine loom as they are different on the TJII to all the preceeding models of Magna. The differnece is in where the engine loom connects under the fuse box, it is not a big differnece but if you do not know what you are looking at could be an issue
You will also need to change the main dash harness as you will need to add the wiring that takes the BEM, you will need to either get a matching key set, BEM and ECU OR get Steve Knight to de immob the ECU you are getting
You will need to change also your cluster as you will need the indicators, the shifter will also need to be changed
good evening gents,
thank you for the comments. a lot of thought went into them.
The reason i started this thread was primarily because i would love to have a 5 speed auto instead of my current 4 speed auto as I do alot of highway driving and feel that it would be better. I saw the ebay ad that also came with an engine. While considering doing the entire swap, I was wondering if I could swap a 5 speed auto into my 3l 4 speed auto engine as this would be a cheaper option.
I would love to go manual but with a crook left knee, that would be a bit hard.![]()
